Information we handle

Depending on the event, GDG SRU may process the student name, university roll number, email address, and department supplied during registration and verified at event check-in. The source registration platforms (such as Bevy / Google Community Platform) maintain their own independent privacy notices.

Certificates & on-demand issuing

To check eligibility, the certificate portal compares the student name and identifier (roll number or email) entered against the confirmed attendance roster uploaded by authorized chapter leads. Certificate artwork is rendered on demand inside the attendee's browser using client-side canvas and vector rendering. The website does not store pre-rendered certificate image files.

To prevent automated enumeration and rate-limit abuse, the certificate verification endpoint uses a salted one-way hash of the requester's network address and event ID. Personal attendee names are never recorded in rate-limiting counters, and counters expire automatically within 10 minutes.

Data retention & automatic purge

In accordance with university community guidelines and data minimization practices under India's Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, event attendance records are retained for one year following each event to facilitate certificate issuance and credential verification, after which they are automatically pruned by scheduled database maintenance jobs.

Leaderboard & community points

Public leaderboards display only the student's registered name, points, and community rank. Email addresses, phone numbers, and private academic details are never exposed publicly.

Cookies & local storage

This website uses essential browser storage (such as localStorage for dark/light theme preference) strictly necessary for site functionality. No third-party advertising cookies or trackers are used.
